It was an unusually slow Friday in the Big Apple, which bored the master thief famously known as The Spot and lesser known as Jonathan. The meta-human walked down the bustling sidewalk with his hands tucked inside his front pockets. He sighed, his blue eyes scanning the area for nothing particular. He hated to admit it but sometimes he missed the goodie-goods and their sad attempts to capture him; at least it gave him something to do.
Dr. Ohnn was heading back for his apartment after about thirty minutes of wandering around town when he suddenly stopped upon seeing a little 5/3 Bank he hadn't noticed before. "Did they just put that in?" He thought aloud as he stared across the street at the small building. A devious smirk twisted his features as an even more devious thought entered his mind. ~I do believe a proper christening is in order.~ He thought, and then ducked into a dark alleyway. He quickly undid his white button-up shirt, put on his white gloves, and then took to removing his slacks & shoes. He tossed all of his clothes into a portal he'd formed, which sent all items into his living room. In only a matter of seconds he was clad in his white bodysuit, complete with gloves and mask, and the huge black spot on his chest was splitting into numerous smaller spots all over his body. He was now virtually unrecognizable as Dr. Jonathan Ohnn. "Time for a little fun." He said to himself, and then he started humming the tune to "Take the Money and Run" by the Steve Miller Band.
The portal to his home vanished, and then a new one appeared to his right. This new portal, however, was going to put him right in behind the counter inside the bank. He jumped through and like magic he was standing behind a middle-aged woman typing away behind the counter. A sort of 'poit' noise was made by the closing portals, which startled the woman. She turned and looked at the odd figure behind her. She gasped, but didn't scream.
"If you behave you won't get hurt." Spot said to the woman, who was too stunned to reply. "Good." He muttered, and then turned to see a man staring at him from the other side of the counter. The man was perfectly still aside from his right hand, which was trying to dial the police. Johnny looked to the cell phone, and then at the man's face. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." He said while extending his hand to take the phone. The man obliged, and then The Spot jumped over the counter. "Good afternoon kind people of New York! My name is The Spot, and I'll be your bank robber today." He said in a grand manner as he moved closer to the middle of the room. "Now," he started, and then tossed a portal on the floor. "Throw all means of communication into the portal and you won't get hurt."

Serenity looked up, pausing in what she was doing. Was someone shouting? She shoved another clip of money into the bag she had brought, tied it closed, and threw it over her shoulder. She stepped out of the open money vault, passed the guards that were now unconscious, heels clicking. She had read about this new bank a few days before in a newspaper and decided that it was just demanding to be robbed. So, she had donned her Ripped Shadow outfit and set out to rid the bank of its money.
She turned a corner and stopped. Serenity watched as people, one by one, threw their phones into a black portal. Her eyebrows came together. It almost looked like her portals but different. She saw the man in white and black and raised an eyebrow.
"Hey, Dalmatian!" Serenity called. Smirking, she put one gloved hand on her hip and brought the large bag of money around. "You're a bit late."

The Spot grinned as the people cooperated with his demand. It was almost too easy, and as he looked around there were a lot more expressions of disbelief than usual. True, he had made a name for himself these last couple years, but it's not like he was Dr. Doom or anything. ~Dr. Doom. Now there's a cool name.~ But anyways, back to work. The portal popped shut, and The Spot smiled again with satisfaction, though his smile was hard to read with his face in its current form. "Now, nobody panic, try to run for the exit, or push any pesky alarms, and I'll be outta here in..." "Hey, Dalmatian!" A woman's voice interrupted him. He knew she had to be talking to him due to the nickname, which kinda pissed him off.
Jonathan's temperature rose a bit, and then he spun around to see a rather attractive young woman clad in black. He scanned her quickly, taking note of her skirt and the big bag of money. ~A woman after my own heart.~
"You're a bit late." The Spot raised an unseen eyebrow. "What the devil?" He thought aloud, still slightly confused. However, an instant later he was upset again. "Hey! That's my stolen money!" He shouted, coming out of his daze. "At least, it's supposed to be. Put it back!" He demanded as he pointed toward the vault. "I'm very bored and I want to steal something, specifically that!" He redirected his pointer finger to the bag the woman was holding.

"You're money?" Serenity questioned. She let out a laugh. Then, she spun the bag around so that the man could see, "Ripped Shadow," scrawled on the bag. She pointed to it, the smirk still on her red lips. "See? It's mine~" she teased. She brought the bag around and hugged it against her chest.
Serenity looked the man in the body suit up and down. Spots? Really? He was just begging for a ridiculous nickname. She clicked forward a few steps, stopping on the edges of the shadows.
"You want it, Spotty?" Serenity taunted. Her shadows began moving behind her, a portal forming. "Come and get it then."

This girl was beginning to annoy, and yet he couldn't seem to stay mad at her. She was strangely like him, which he found seemed to take the edge off of her insults. Nevertheless, this was Jon's robbery! No chick in a mini skirt was gonna take his fun!
"Look here, little Ms. Goth, you're in over your head challenging me." He said firmly, feeling confident in his abilities. "But if you wanna make this comedy scene into an action scene..." A spot on his arm moved to his palm very discretely. "I'll be happy to oblige." The spot was launched from his hand, which was now aimed for Serenity's legs. It wasn't his most powerful attack, but would be more than enough to wound her.

Serenity pouted. Did everyone have to call her 'goth'? Just because shadows were black... She saw a spot suddenly shoot towards her. She stuck her tongue out at the spotted man before diving back into her portal. She popped out a few feet behind the man. "Is that it? she asked, adding a yawn at the end.
Serenity could have left but, nowadays, it wasn't often that she ran into another powered person. She was ready to have some fun. And she was highly curious of his powers. The shadows from around the room moved towards her, gathering. They condensed down in her hand and soon she was holding a black gun.
Serenity had it aimed where the man's heart would be. But before she pulled the trigger though, she flicked it to aim at his shadow. She pulled back her finger and the bullet made of shadows rocketed towards his shadow leg.

The Spot elevated his eyebrows, which were unseen for now. This girl possessed powers similar to his own. He wondered for a brief moment if she had come to possess them naturally or if she was an accident like him. This thought, however, quickly vanished as Serenity started talking behind him. ~That's supposed to be my trick.~ He thought to himself as he turned to look at her.
The young woman suddenly pulled a strange gun on him, and Spot resorted to his usual tactic. A portal appeared under him, and before she could pull the trigger The Spot was gone and so was his portal. Another portal formed behind the girl, and out of it came Jon, but only half way. "Come on! I practically invented that trick." Spot smiled, and then spots shot from his body and filled the room with portals. "Now, let's have some fun." The villain said impishly, and then shot another spot from his hand in an attempt to blast the money bag out of Serenity's hand and hopefully into a portal.

Serenity watched him disappear and blinked a few times. When she heard his voice again, she turned, making sure to hold the money bag tightly. "Invented, maybe. But not perfected..." she taunted with a wink. She watched as the black spots flew around the room. 'Multiple portals?' she wondered. Quickly, using other shadows in the room, she started making a shadow portal back to her apartment. Against multiple portals, she didn't know how she'd stand up and wanted the option of running to be available.
Serenity saw another spot headed for her and ducked. But it sliced through the top of the money bag. She quickly pulled the sides together but it was harder to hold it than before. She made the shadows form faster. If she was going to actually get away with the money, she would probably have to throw the cash into her portal once it was formed.
To keep Spotty distracted while she formed up her escape, she pointed the gun at him again, keeping the money bag balanced in one arm, covering the hole at the top. Even though the man's shadow wasn't visible, he didn't know it wasn't a real gun, right? "So, may I know the name of the thief trying to steal from me? she asked. "Though, I don't mind just calling you 'Dalmatian.'"

Jonathan was getting irritated. This girl was proving to be harder to handle than he thought she would be. Then again, she was keeping him occupied. So, when he thought about it, she was providing just what he needed--a bit of excitement.
He watched the bag get cut by his attack; this brought a faint grin to his face. Finally, he was making progress. ~Maybe it's time to kick it up a notch...? He asked himself, and then the girl asked for his name. Again she insulted him with her stupid nickname. "Are you serious?" The Spot asked, and then sunk back into his portal only to appear halfway out of another a few feet above Serenity's head. "You're asking who I am?" Again he vanished, and then reappeared on the opposite side of the room. "I'm the uncatchable portal-hopping villain. I am New York's foremost Master Thief, and Spider-Man's long-time enemy. I'm The Spot!" Just when he thought he was making a name for himself he had to go and explain who he was to some random meta-human bank robber. "And you, little Miss Goth?"

Serenity watched the man pop from one portal to the next. She smirked at him, "The Spot, is it? Clever. Very clever." Serenity rolled her eyes again at the goth nickname. She looked at The Spot and motioned to the bag. "Well, if you couldn't read the bag, I am Ripped Shadow." She gave a mock bow, but made sure to keep a firm hand on the bag.
"And did you say 'Master thief?'" Serenity asked. "Well, if you were such a Master, how come you can't take this bag from me?"
Suddenly, her head whipped around. Her shadows created a black line across the room, grabbing hold of a civilian. The man she captured cried out in fear. She had stopped him as he was halfway to the door, trying to escape. She called out to the man, "I wouldn't do that if I were you." She raised her gun, released her shadow hold on him, and shot him in the shadow leg. The man shouted, grabbed his leg and fell to the ground, though no blood was shown and there was no apparent wound.
For a brief moment, Serenity's eyes turned completely black before she blinked them back to normal. 'I'll need more memories soon,' she thought to herself. But she turned back to The Spot, a smirk still on her face. "Civilians. What're you to do?"

The girl was unimpressed, it seemed. ~Well, guess I'm not as famous as I thought. Oh well.~ The Spot did let it bother him, especially in a situation where he rather needed to focus on his opponent. So far he had been going nice and easy on this girl--underestimating her. However... "Well, if you were such a Master, how come you can't take this bag from me?" That comment set him off.
~Okay little Miss Goth, time to get serious.~ He thought to himself, and then watched as she seemed to paralyze one of the civilians. But how? The Spot examined the situation closer. ~His shadow? How incredibly odd. How is this accomplished?~ At that moment the scientist in Ohnn started to seep through, and his mind began to develop theories on the subject at hand. Again this woman performed the strangest feat. It seemed that she could somewhat control people and harm them through their shadows. ~How?!~ Dr. Ohnn exclaimed, unable to fully understand her powers.
"Civilians. What're you to do?" "Indeed." He replied plainly. "Now then, " he started as the portals around the room raced toward Ripped Shadow, one blocking her path to her own portal, and the rest surrounding and practically caging her. "Back to the matter at hand." He said impishly before jumping into the portal behind him, which disappeared once he was through. "Now," The Spot started as his head popped out of a portal right in front of Serenity's face. "I'm going to give you a choice." A hand launched from one of the portals and gripped the bag tightly while another came from a different portal and gripped one of her shoulders. "You can hand it over nice and easy, or we can get violent about this." Truth be told The Spot was hoping she'd take the easy road, he never much liked having to hurt girls.

Serenity watched the portals surround her. She could feel her heart rate picking up, especially when she saw her own escape route cut off. She took a deep breath, trying to calm down. If there was one thing she couldn't do, it was panic. Because with her control so-so at the moment, if she began to panic, her powers would take over. And she just wanted the money. She didn't want to kill everyone.
But when his hand came out to grip her shoulder, she could feel her body shaking from trying to stay in control. It was then that she heard, in the corner of her mind, laughter. She knew it was the Voice, feeling her weakness. She tightened her grip on the bag of cash. "Sixty-forty," she offered to The Spot. She was losing control, fast. Her eyes turned black and then back to blue. "I mean, I'm the one who stole it. You're the one just bullying a sweet, innocent girl." Let it be said, that even in moments of panic and weakness, Serenity never lost a drop of her sarcasm.

The Spot's confidence grew as he watched the nervousness in his opponent grow and begin to show itself in her face and posture. His plan was working. ~I believe a mental 'woohoo' is in order. Woohoo!~ He thought to himself, a resemblance of a cocky grin on his bizarre face. ~Now, just cave so I can be that much richer.~
But then the unexpected happened. "Sixty-forty." Negotiations commenced. It was an unwelcome turn of events. Ohnn had hoped she would just get scared, realizing she was out of her league, and give him the money. But no, she had to try negotiating. ~You've gotta be kidding.~ He said mentally. The Spot stopped and thought about the situation for a moment. Yes, he could probably beat this girl without much effort, after all experience was on his side. He could likely give her a good thrashing and take the money and run, but that just wasn't Jon's style. He hated to beat up on a girl, especially a bad, sexy, skirt sporting girl. "Dang it." He thought aloud, knowing what he had to do. "Alright. Throw in a beer and you have yourself a deal."

'It worked?' was Serenity's first thought. Her second was, 'Wait, did he just ask me out for a drink?' But she gave a smirk anyway and said, "Deal." She was happy that he had accepted so easily, not having expected him to. If she didn't read some memories soon, she knew that things were going to get bad.
Serenity looked at the all the portals before turning back to The Spot. "So, do I just throw the money in a spot?" she asked, taking out a few clips of cash from the bag.

He had to admit to himself that this was one of the strangest arrangements he had ever made. After all, only a moment ago he was about to fight this girl, and now he was cutting a deal with her. Highly irregular. But, it was a strange time they were living in. Heroes hanging up capes, others putting them back on, and some toting badges. Villains were getting locked up and actually staying locked up. Heck, even Mr. Sinister had his own private cell someplace in LA. Then there were other baddies who were even badder than ever, like Jon. Ohnn had hit the climax of his criminal career, whereas prior to the Acts he was an unknown. Everything was askew. But, again, back to the matter at hand.
"What, and have you jip me? I think..." The Spot's sentence was interrupted by the resounding of an alarm. His eyes widened and then his head ducked into the portal. His face came out of another portal so he could see the counter, and then the arm on Serenity's shoulder left her and popped out of the portal where Jon's head was. "I warned you, didn't I?!" He shouted, and then blasted the wooden counter. Wood flew everywhere. The teller jumped to side and hit the floor when the spot came crashing through the only protection a teller had.
All of Spot's parts went into the portals, and then The Spot dropped out of a warp portal above Ripper Shadow. He landed beside her, and then all of the spots splashed back onto his suit. "Well," he started as he grabbed a spot and threw it on the floor in front of him and his ex-enemy. "Time to go!" He exclaimed in a somewhat cheerful tone as he went to take Serenity's hand and leap into the large portal, which would close behind them.
