(OOC: Sorry! Feeling a lack of motivation. Might be the weird weather down here. ) "Yes! Precisely." Jonathan replied, maybe a little over excited that she got what he was trying to say. ~She's...something else.~ He thought to himself. It felt nice to have somebody to talk to about these sorts of things. The Spot had never had any real allies before, or even work buddies since he became a villain. This was...well, great. "So, how about you, Serenity?" Dr. Ohnn felt it was time to move the topic away from himself for a bit--he didn't want to come off as self-centered. "Was this just the easiest route or do you have goals? A little hostile take over, perhaps?" He asked, his tone becoming more lighthearted on the second question.

(OOC: It's okay! It's the same for me too. That's why my last reply was so short. >.< Gotta get myself used to rping again, haha. ^_^)
Serenity gave a laugh, happy to see that her analogy wasn't as off as she thought it was. She finally paused and realized that she was having a good time. Not being one for social contact with others, she stayed by herself a lot. Especially since the Keene Act. But she found that she was having fun. 'When was the last time that happened?' she asked herself. She hadn't had a good time around another person since the last time she'd seen her best friend, Raven. But that had been months ago, close to a year. She found that she was smiling.
Jonathan asked her about herself. She wondered if she should tell him the truth, that she had been a hero, been on the other side of the law, but had changed sides. But he might inquire as to why and Serenity avoided the reasons as to why. The less she thought of her past, the better. "No, I'll leave the take over to someone else. I prefer the 'living one day at a time; enjoying one day at a time' life," she explained, quoting her favorite lines from the Serenity prayer. "I find that that life of a, uh, 'super chef' is satisfying." That was the honest truth. While Serenity was constantly berating herself for turning to the wrong side of the law, she had admitted to herself that it was much easier and fit her better.

Jonathan just listened, almost forgetting the cool bottle he had in his grasp. After a moment he turned away from his female companion, her reply complete. ~Satisfying, huh? Interesting choice of words.~ He thought to himself as he finally took another drink. "Yes. It can be quite exciting, but also rather dangerous, and even frustrating." Ohnn responded, a faint grin on his face.
"The thrill you get when you're on a job is incredible, only rivaled by the excitement of new love or the physical expression of love. It's amazing. Your heart goes wild. Everything moves at a mile a minute, and yet there are instants where everything seems slow. You lose yourself for just a bit, a few moments, and when it's over you're smiling for minutes on end." The doctor romanticized. Dr. Ohnn took a long drink of his beer, and then sighed. "Yes. It's quite satisfying, isn't it?" He said as he turned his gaze to Serenity once more.

Serenity almost laughed when he described their 'job' as frustrating. It was damn near insane, especially in her position. But she simply gave a small chuckle, took another sip of her drink, and muttered, "Frustrating, indeed."
But when Jonathan started explaining more, Serenity just looked at him. She'd never heard it described so poetically but... "It's exactly like that," she finally said. "You feel alive, like nothing can stop you. Like you're..." she paused, trying to find the word. "Free," she finished. "You know?" She smiled at Jonathan.
'What do you know? Someone who understands,' she thought. Serenity'd had friends in the past but none of them against the law, like herself. All her friends were either civilians who, like any sane person, believed villains to be evil or were heroes themselves. Serenity wondered what they'd think of her now, being a thief and all. It felt nice to know that she had a friend she could talk to.
'Since when did Doctor Spots become my friend?' Ripped Shadow wondered to herself. Her blue eyes gazed at the man. The smile that had fallen while she was thinking, returned. 'No. Not Spotty. Jonathan,' Serenity corrected.
"Extremely satisfying," the young woman agreed. "Nothing's better at the end of the day than a large wad of dough," she said, smirking, still staying with the chef theme.

Dr. Ohnn's smile broadened when Serenity added to what he was saying with the simple word free. "Yes. I know what you mean." He replied. "Nothing's better at the end of the day than a large wad of dough." "Well, I can think of one thing better." He added with a cockeyed grin. "But, other than to that, it is the greatest."
Jonathan finished off his beer, tossed down a couple bucks for a tip, and then stood up. He pulled a pen from his breast pocket, a napkin from the bar, and wrote his first name and his phone number on it. "We should do this again, Ms. Serenity." He said as he placed the napkin on bar in front of her. "Just give me a call any time you feel like it." He wasn't sure the young woman would accept, but he was hoping she would. "Good night." He said kindly, and then exited the bar. Once outside he checked for anyone who might be watching before he opened a portal, which vanished after he jumped in.

Serenity returned his smile and finished the last of her drink. When Jonathan stood, she looked at a nearby clock. 'I guess time really does fly when you're having fun,' she thought. "I believe we should," she agreed. "And trust me, I will," she confirmed with a wink, tucking the number into small, hidden pocket on her skirt.
Serenity gave him one last smile before he left. "It was a pleasure meeting you, Jonathan," she said, stopping herself from calling him by his nickname. Once he left, Serenity sat there for a few more minutes. She was happy with how the night played out. Serenity bid the bartender, Mac, a goodbye before walking out of the bar. She walked for a few blocks before she formed her shadow portal, heading back to her apartment.
