Full Name: Raven
Alias: Rachel Roth - Familiarly known as Raya or Ray
Carolyn Jacobs (school records)
Canon or OC: Cannon
Age: 18
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Alignment: Hero
Occupation: Witch Doctor
Appearance:
Raven is an 18 year old girl. She of medium height and weighs little, being of a slight build. She’s one of those people who can’t seem to gain weight no matter what they eat or do. Her skin is very pale, almost white and starkly contrasts her dark hair and eyes that are so black they almost look blue. Her hair falls in a straight heavy wave to mid-back and thick black lashes frame her eyes. Raven’s body fits the Hourglass type, however, she puts little store in such things and does her best to hide it, wearing thick, draping clothing, normally in dark colors. She doesn’t bother with makeup, her one vanity being jewelry. She can almost always be seen wearing gold rings and hoop earrings. The one greatest defining factor about her is the small red jewel set into her forehead. She was once counted as quite pretty, even beautiful by some. However, now her face is serious and worried.

Powers & Abilities:
Raven gained all her powers from her father. The most obvious ones are her telepathy and telekinesis. The latter allowing her to bend and control inanimate objects to her will, the former giving her the power to enter anybody’s mind to give or take information. While these powers are predominantly used as a weapon, even more powerful is her ability as a healer. Raven has the ability to transfer the wounds of a living creature into her own body where it is assimilated into her being. She then gets rid of it during meditation.
Meditation, however, serves a dual purpose. Raven is an empath, meaning that she feels the emotions of people around her as strongly as though they are her own. Over time she has learned to tune most of these emotions out unless she wishes otherwise. However, if enough people are feeling the same emotion strongly enough, the shear power behind it hits Raven with more or less the force of a brick wall. e.g. scenes of mass panic, riots, etc. Meditation allows her to remove herself from mass feelings that would otherwise overwhelm her and reduce her to curling up fetal position on the floor reciting her A,B,C’s.
Above all else Raven commands a soul self. This predominantly enables her to leave her body for a short period of time. However, in extreme cases, it can be used to force a person to face their worst fears. Raven prefers not to use this as she feels it is cruel. On the side, she has an immense stored up knowledge of old spells and rituals from her books. And she can fly.
Power/Physical Weakness:
She's smart, and - magically - she's powerful, but she's as susceptible as anyone else to a bullet or an arrow. Even more so, though, she knows only minimal hand-to-hand combat. Enough to take on a thug or two without breaking a sweat, but not even near the level of most other heroes. She works almost exclusively as a ranged fighter, using her powers, and trying not to get into the fray.
Personality:
Raven has been described as harsh, cold, cruel, heartless, and more. This is a good description of the façade she has, over her life, built up for herself. In her care to shield herself from the emotions around her, she has effectively blocked her own emotions from showing a good percent of the time. Couple this with her world weary guise, no nonsense, serious outlook, and an infinite supply of biting sarcasm, and it is easy to see why she is so disliked among enemies and strangers.
Even among her friends, she can be distant, often preferring her own company and some books to the company of the Titans. She has been known to shut herself in her room for hours, or even days, not even coming out to eat. However, though she may try not show it, she is fiercely loyal to her friends and tends to keep an eye on them weather they know it or not, sometimes acting as Guardian Angel. Though she has difficulty opening up, even to the people she’s closest with, once you have her confidence, it is almost impossible to get out. And the same goes for getting in her bad books.

Place of Upbringing: The Dimension/City of Azar
History:
Raven is the daughter of the human woman, Arellah Roth, and the interdimensional demon; Trigon. The priests of Azar took in Arellah before she could commit suicide and she gave birth to her daughter, Raven. At her birth, however it was prophesized that the girl would become a porthole to allow Trigon to destroy the earth. She was raised by the priests and monks of Azar in seclusion and trained her to control her powers, hoping that she would be able to defy her destiny. Finally, as time grew short, she left Azar for Earth, seeking comrades to help her fight her father. The Teen Titans found her and she soon became one of them. In short, the prophecy came true, but in the end the Titans won and Raven killed her father, though it almost cost her life.
When she recovered, she thought her problems were over. And they mostly were, until the Registration and Keene Acts ruined her life. When they were passed, she became very bitter and turned even more inwards. She refused to comply with the government, choosing instead to be labeled a traitor. However, the killing blow was when the Teen Titans folded before the imposed laws. Unlike the grand majority of the Titans, Raven had no other home or family to go to, Azarath having been destroyed by Trigon and her mother long dead.
Feeling abandoned by her friends, she slipped out in the night and disappeared, deciding she would get rid of Raven completely.
She went through ever government record, every blog, ever little bit of paper work that ever mentioned her and destroyed it, saving only a single copy for herself. Having erased herself from existence, she turned towards creating a new life. She would have loved to have remained a hero, fighting crime in the back alleys, but, she knew that she was not a great fighter, and wouldn’t manage much but her own death without a team to back her. Therefore, she turned to her other great talent. Healing. Creating a false identity for herself, she attended GUM, Gotham University of Medicine, earning a medical degree under the false name Carolyn Jacobs. (She fudged a couple of rules and records so she could earn her degree in record time) Then, having become a doctor, she disappeared again, fleeing to Las Vegas, one of the most messed up cities in America, and – in a buried and forgotten old train station – she built an underground hospital. Technically illegal, she uses both her magic and her medical know-how to run a safe house for any in the city unable to attend the actual hospitals. She also keeps stores of food, clothing, blankets, and necessary items. She often roams the streets at night, seeking out the poor and destitute who might still have a chance, and taking them back to her underground hospital. There are rumors about it floating around the city, but she hides it well with magic. It is a safe house where no one is allowed to fight, a rule she demands be followed, else she gets scary. Really Scary. She remains bitter toward her former teammates and heroes, however, and her greatest fear is that she be discovered by them and drawn back into their world. However, old habits die hard, and there are rumors of a dark woman who stalks the streets at night, destroying those who would do harm to the innocent.

There was a scuffle in an alley. It was dark and the blaring noises of city streets should have drowned it out, but Raven was listening for just such a sound as this. She sat on a rooftop, unnoticed by the world, in silent meditation. Listening. Pinpointing the noise, she looked around quickly to assure herself of her continued secrecy, and slipped off the building.
The cold night air whipped her hair around her face, burning her cheeks as she fell, with a single thought, she swept up again, flying with grace and ease through the night sky. Keeping to the darkest of shadows, she made her way to where she had first heard that sound. Concentrating her hearing, she could make out the sounds of three men, drunks probably, and their victim – a girl, probably no older than Raven herself.
Cold anger burning in her gut, Raven landed smoothly in the alley. Not feeling exactly subtle, she used her powers; crushing a metal trash can near her. The men turned in amazement, “Wha…?” Next to them, Raven looked tiny, not a threat at all. The first man leered at her, lumbering towards her. Without ever twitching a muscle, Raven bent her mind and threw the man back, slamming against a far wall, then allowing him to slide down. He wasn’t dead. Probably. The other two men started towards her now, angrily. One of them pulled a knife. She ripped it out of his hand with her powers, bending it in half so it could never be used again. Then, slamming them back as she had their friend, she walked through the wreckage of the fight to their victim. The girl huddled and wept. She was hurt, but as Raven scanned her, she was relived to find that nothing unfixable had been done.
Kneeling down, Raven picked the girl up, bridal style, with strength that looked alien in such a small body. Immediately, the girl fell asleep, breathing peacefully at Raven’s touch. However, before anything else could be done, sirens wailed, closing in on the alley from both sides. Her flight cut off, lest she be discovered, Raven stepped unhurriedly back into the shadows and disappeared. When the coppers came in, all they found were the three men. The two girls were gone.
