As soon as her soul self lifted off the ground, Raven's body became blank and void of life. It stood, eyes staring blankly with nothing behind them - like the shell of a robot. Lifeless and completely vulnerable, it was another reason why Raven disliked this particular attack. She hoped briefly as it was initiated that ti wouldn't take long. As it was, though, it took no time at all and the manner in which the attack was terminated was entirely unexpected.
The second that the body of the false Doctor exploded, Raven snapped back into her body, staring with incredulity as - what had been until very recently a living person - became stones and then disintegrated entirely to sand. For a moment, everything was completely silent, Raven staring at the sand with wide unblinking eyes. There was no way... she didn't even know what that was. An attack? An illusion? She sensed no more life signature from him, but -- what had it been. It certainly hadn't been her.
It did not escape her notice that the majority of the sand had landed near Serenity. Stepping delicately around the grainy mounds, Raven stopped close to her friend, murmuring "You may want to step away from the..." she trailed off, nodding at the mineral dusting the room. "Unless... did you do that?" It seemed unlikely, Serenity was a shadowmancer, as the man had called her. However, a lot of things had changed, and Raven wasn't about to take anything for granted.
Taking her own advice and stepping back some, she crouched down and lifted up a handful of sand. Letting it pour slowly to the ground, her eyes flashed white as she analyzed. Nothing. Either it was normal sand - unlikely - or it was an amazing trick - unpleasant. Weighing the options, and noting the beginnings of a porthole, Raven spoke up again softly. "What did you learn about him? Anything we can use?" There was no way their opponent could have known about Serenity's power over memories, or surely he wouldn't have supplied them with such a wealth. Raven only hoped it hadn't been too rough on her friend.
