It was almost 3:00 in the morning on a Friday...well, technically Saturday now. Alistair Price, professional bodyguard by day and vigilante by night, was out on the rooftops patrolling, all the while his little MP3 player was pumping Billy Idol into his ear buds. He would have done this earlier, but his most recent job as a bodyguard for some "teen rocker" who was in town for a show didn't end until nearly 2:00 AM. Stupid kid was your typical wannabe-rock-star jacked up on booze and hash not ten minutes after his show, and it was Alistair's job to make sure he didn't go overboard or get in a fight. Ninety minutes of that brat spouting nonsense about him being "the next big thing" and how he was going to outshine any rock star who tried to step into his spotlight. It was almost more than Price could bear.
"Pfft! Next big rock star, my eye. Berk wouldn't know real rock music if it kicked him in the teeth." Yes, he was a little upset, and looking to blow off some steam. But, Billy was helping. After what felt like eternity listening to that other trash, hearing some true rock music was very refreshing. ~Billy, ol' friend, they just don't make 'em like you anymore.~
After a little while more of hopping buildings Basilisk popped one of the buds out, and listened for something...anything. He just wanted something to chase, and then beat. However, things were surprisingly still in this part of NYC. Price sighed. He was disappointed. He needed a release, and his poor old punching bag at home couldn't take the kind of punishment he was wanting to dish out.
~Please let a superhuman do something dumb and illegal. Please let a superhuman do something dumb and illegal.~ He repeated mentally, and then finally he heard something. ~Breaking glass?~ He asked himself as his eyes darted in the direction of the sound. "A jewelry shop..." Alistair muttered, and then grinned. It was likely to be nothing but a common thief, but it was something.
His knee high black boots thudded as he raced across the roof toward the ledge. He jumped high and far, his dark green trench coat flapping about in the wind, making the basilisk head outline design on the back unrecognizable until he finally landed atop the other building. He pulled the ear buds out, shut off the device, and pocketed it all. His platinum blonde hair gleamed slightly under the light of the moon before he moved to the access door and entered. The door had been left open, possibly by the thief, which just made it easier for Basilisk to get in and stop this punk.
The mutant moved down to the first floor with impressive stealth, especially considering his boots. There, in the dark, he saw a figure that he couldn't make out, but concluded it must be the thief. "I tell ya what," he started, leaning against the wall rather aloof. "I'll only break one of your legs if you put the stuff back before running away. Cause, really, I don't feel like gatherin' up all the junk you drop while trying to escape." He said casually, his English accent a bit thicker than usual, probably as a result of his lack of sleep. It wasn't logical at all, but whenever he felt tired or simply hadn't slept in a long while his accent came through even more.

It was your typical 3:00 am on a Saturday. Meaning that Serenity was up to no good. What better way to start off a weekend? She'd had her eye on a certain jewelry shop for a while and it just seemed the perfect night for it. So, donning her Ripped Shadow costume, black short skirt, high heels, mask and all. Breaking in was relatively easy and she landed on the floor with a sharp clack. With a rotate of her neck, she felt the satisfactory crack of popping something.
"Today is a good day," Serenity sighed happily to herself, standing over displays, grinning like a cat. Her shadows crept over the walls, covering the security cameras. With the help of the hilt of a pocket knife, she broke the glass. The diamonds and rubies and shiny things inside just called to her and she picked them up, one by one, enjoying how they shined. "A very good day indeed."
That is, until someone started speaking behind her in an English accent, warning her to drop the jewels. Taking a moment to pick up a very nice sapphire ring and putting it on her gloved finger with great care, Serenity turned the man who had spoken. He leaned against the wall as if he owned the place and reeked of hero and also a bit of snake. She wrinkled her nose at the smell, and at the general presence of a hero.
"Well, lookie what we got here. A hero... You here to stop me, Blondie?" she asked, grinning. She was raring for a fight. Not to mention when her opponent had an accent. Accents were probably a weakness of hers, seeing as how every time she heard one, she couldn't help but tease it. In a mocking, somewhat British tone, she said, "Well then come on mate, tally-ho and all that."

"Blonide? Come on, if you're gonna make comparisons to any eighties star it's gotta be Billy Idol. Right?" He jested, still quite relaxed as he rose a fist near his face and sneered a bit for just a couple seconds. Alistair gave the place a look-over, getting an idea of how much space he would have for this fight. Although, by the looks of her he probably wouldn't need much space--one good hit to the jaw should do it. However, judging by this woman's getup she was likely some sort of superhuman, which added the surprise factor into the mix. But, that's just what this Brit was looking for.
"Tally-ho?" Alistair repeated, arching one eyebrow. "I thought only my grandfather said tally-ho?" Ah, the pre-fight banter. How long had it been since he had a good back-and-forth with an opponent? About as long as it had been since he had a decent fight with an opponent.
"So, I don't guess you're gonna be compliant, are ya bird?" Basilisk pushed himself off the wall, and took a couple steps toward the dark clad woman. "You really gonna make me mess up that pretty face?" He asked with a grin, seeming somewhat flirtatious.

Serenity arched an eyebrow at the talk of eighties music. Ever the rock and roll fan, of course she knew of Billy Idol. She raised a 'rock hand', two middle fingers down, pinkie and pointer up. "Rebel Yell," she said, naming a favorite song. She ignored the question about the tally-ho thing and instead started sending her shadows out. She didn't know this guy but any hero stopping her from taking her shiny jewels was bad news in her book.
Serenity's shadows crept up around him, surrounding. She giggled at his words. "Of course not. Where'd the fun be in simply giving up?" Taking a page from Raven's book, she made her shadow form behind her in a giant bird, her lips curled in a smirk. "Oh, I don't think I'll be the one with the messed up face by the end of this." The shadow bird flew at the blond man as Serenity started making a shadow portal.

~I woman who likes Billy Idol... Girl after my own heart.~ He thought with a smirk as he watched the thief. His eyes focused in on her, no longer watching his surroundings so closely, and that's when he noticed a strange shift in the lighting around her. ~Wait a minute.~ The vigilante thought to himself, his grey-blue eyes carefully watching the shadows nearest to his opponent. ~You're a bloomin' shadowmancer.~
"Oh, this should be fun." He thought to himself as the large shadow bird rose up behind the young woman. The mutant dashed to the side, running up a wall and charging in Serenity's general direction with great swiftness. He proceeded to leap from the wall, doing a sort of in-air cartwheel, and landing on his feet only about 18 inches behind Ripped Shadow. He had landed with his back to her, but he rectified the situation in approximately 0.7 seconds, spinning about and adopting a kiba dachi position (horse back stance). His left fist flew forward, aimed at the girl's back, as his other hand drew back just under his rib cage. He didn't dare to use his full strength, or anything close to it until he found out if this shadowmancer had any kind of physical powers as well. Thus, the punch he threw at Serenity was relatively weak to him, but to an average human it probably would have been just enough to unbalance them or cause them to fall.

Serenity watched Blondie, as she had so dubbed him, run up the wall like a freaking ninja. She turned, trying to keep him in site, but hey, heels plus skirt takes a bit of speed away. She was halfway turned when the hand came at her, pushing her back. Not one for hand-to-hand combat, she let out a small 'Eep' at the unexpectedness of it and found herself falling back. With a bit of mid-air flailing and a strive to stay upward, once she got near the ground, she caught herself and quickly rolled to standing, a concentrated look now on her face.
"Well someone's faster than they look," Serenity pouted. She hadn't expected him to start running up the wall and jumping and such but now that she knew... The shadows around her thickened, so that if he got that close again, he'd be trapped in place, shadow captured. She raised two fists, though she didn't really plan to throw any punches; just if it came down to it.
"So, Blondie, er Billy, whatever you wanna be called. How about you just run off and leave me alone? Pretend you didn't see anything? Take a diamond or two if you want while you leave." Serenity knew her little deal wouldn't work, though it'd be great if it did, but she wanted to know what kind of hero she was dealing with. If he answered with an immediate Hell No! well, she figured she was gonna be in a long fight. If he was quiet for a while, considering, she could probably talk him into leaving her be. Serenity had ways of being persuasive.

Alistair smirk when the girl commented on his speed, standing straight up now with his guard low. "You don't know the half of it, luv." He said confidently, and then moved his right foot back a little, his boot making contact with the display case behind him. ~There you are.~ The mutant thought to himself in regard to the broken case.
His grey-blue eyes stayed fixed on Ripped Shadow, making note of the increasing darkness around her. She was up to something, but Mr. Price wasn't sure what exactly. He did, however, feel it would not be wise to get too close to her again. Shadowmancers were tricky, and he had very little experience with them, thus he planned to take every precaution with this woman.
~Okay... If I can't get close what can I do? I don't have any projectile powers, and I haven't got a knife with me. Nothing in this place I could use as a staff weapon, so that's out too. I guess that really only leaves me with one option...~ He thought to himself as Serenity made her proposition.
Basilisk's hand moved so quickly it was only a blur as he took a glass shard from the broken display case behind him and threw it like a ninja star at the thief's inner left thigh. He wasn't sure if it would even hit, as he was also unsure as to the effect the increasing darkness around his foe would have. But, he had to try something.

Serenity quirked an eyebrow at his comment regarding his speed. Well, that didn't sound good. She could barely dodge him at the speed he was at. Sounded like it was time to bring out the big guns, or for her, the shadow gun. Giving up on the shadow portal, as she really doubted she'd be able to run away, let alone be fast enough to get through it without him following, she redirected the shadows into forming a gun in her hand. The shadows seemed to drip upwards, like a gel, forming her weapon. It was shimmering black with a carving of a rose on the side.
Serenity pointed the gun at Blondie right when he moved in a blur, sending something speeding toward her. Letting out another 'Eep,' she moved to dodge it and ended up with a gash on the outside of her left leg, cutting a piece of skirt off along with putting a hole in her leggings. She glared up at him. "You could have just said No. You didn't have to ruin my skirt," she pouted. Then she aimed at his shadow, at the leg and shoulder and fired twice.

~Yes!~ Alistair thought to himself when he saw his attack had been successful, he even grinned a little. However, that smirk soon faded at the sight of the forming weapon in Serenity's hand. ~Oh bugger.~ Basilisk was not a fan of firearms, even more so when they had mystic or otherwise unusual properties. Well, that wasn't completely true--he didn't mind them so much in fiction, but in reality he found them particularly annoying; unsettling even.
Mr. Price watched his foe more carefully now that she was armed with a queer gun. He also formed scales on his hand as he picked up two more glass shards and waited to see what the woman would do. After a short moment she took aim, but not at Alistair. Quickly, the mutant looked to see where the gun was pointed. ~My shadow?~ He was confused by this, but didn't risk staying put. He bolted to one side, dodging the first attack. Then he saw her aim at his shadow again. ~She's not a horrible shot, she's aiming at my shadow on purpose. But why?~
Alistair dashed the other way, just barely avoiding the gunfire. He threw one shard at the woman's other thigh, and threw the other piece of glass at her right shoulder. He did not want to kill this thief, but he also didn't care to find out what sort of damage this shadow gun of hers could do. So, he needed to incapacitate her.

Serenity narrowed her eyes behind her mask as he dodged. She continued shooting, shadows pouring into the gun as she fired bullets. As she shot, she kept moving, back to the shadows. As more projectiles flew at her, she knelt and rolled away, dodging both.
"Is that all you've got?" she taunted, rolling up to her feet. Serenity stopped and re-aimed at his legs or torso. She needed to stop him so that she could get away. "Come on, I've had better fights with one arm behind my back." She was trying to rile him up, trying to get him angry maybe. When people got angry, they tended to make mistakes.

Alistair's last couple attacks had failed--this woman was quicker than he had anticipated. This left Price with very few options, now. Well, sure he could probably grab a display case or two and throw those at her, but wrecking the joint would pretty much defeat the purpose of stopping her. So, really, there was only one thing to do here.
Another shot rang out, and this time the girl's timing was perfect. She fired right when he had come to a halt to look for an opening, and hit him in the leg, or rather his shadow's leg. His hand shot to the area that was in pain out of reflex, and his features twisted into an agonized expression. He grunted a bit, and then in an instant he seemed like he had never been in pain at all. His eyes were cold, his hands at his side, and then suddenly... ~Okay. Time for a Hail Mary.~ The vigilante's body began to change rapidly, starting with his eyes. The once gray-blue eyes that stared at Serenity so icily turned black on yellow, and then his skin swiftly became lizard scales. A growl rumbled behind his scaly lips, and then the mutant opened his mouth and hissed showing off his maw full of reptilian fangs.
"That hurt, birdy." He stated as he rose his fists up to his chest, his voice now with a touch of a growl and a bit lower. "Now," he opened his hands, and long claws quickly extended from his fingers. "I'm gonna hurt you back."
Basilisk moved like a blur, dashing one direction and then another, stopping for a second or less at a time simply to taunt his foe. After several dashes he decided he had played with her long enough, and then charged at top speed and slashed at her right side, intending only to wound her to the point she could not fight but would not die.

Serenity grinned as she saw his face twist into a painful expression, signaling that she'd actually managed to hit him. But her grin quickly faded and her blue eyes widened as the blond man looked up at her with now black and yellow eyes. His body started changing and Serenity started backing up out of instinct.
"Great job, Serenity," she mumbled to herself. "Piss off the guy who can turn into a lizard on steroids. Like it wasn't hard enough to freaking shoot him before." She figured now would be an great time to run away. She had enough jewels in her pockets to get a nice chuck of cash. Looking around, she tried to figure out a way to distract the lizard man long enough to make a portal.
But then the lizard rushed towards Serenity. She did a sort of squeaking noise and backed up quickly. A giant clawed hand flew closer and that was when her heel decided to snap. Serenity fell backwards, suddenly not supported. Without thinking, she rolled away from the attack and reached to break the other heel.
'First my skirt, now my heels. This fight is going to cost me my whole wardrobe!' Serenity thought as she climbed to her feet. It was extremely awkward, trying to run on broken heels but they were too complicated to take off quickly. Next time, she was buying pumps.
Serenity raised her gun and started firing again. His shadow was bigger now, but she wasn't sure if it was going to do anything. Behind her, a shadow portal started forming, one just big enough to get her out of the building.

Alistair’s eyes widened when the girl fell before his attack could land. ~What the…?!~ He exclaimed mentally, and then spun around to see that her heel had broken on her shoe. ”Well, if you aren’t the luckiest little thief I ever did meet.” The lizard man thought aloud. ~But you’ll need more than luck to be rid of me, pet.~ He thought, and then in a flash he was hidden by a display case. Bullets flew but not a one could hit their mark. He jumped out from behind the counter, but not at Serenity. His body twisted around to where his stomach faced skyward, and then suddenly he was looking down on the woman from the ceiling. His reptilian eyes narrowed as he began running about on all fours above his foe, his gaze locked on the shadowmancer.
Shot after shot rang out, but nothing touched him or his shadow this time. He was above the light, which put his shadow right at his belly, making it nigh impossible for Serenity to do any damage. But just then he saw something forming behind her. What was that? ~A portal?~ He asked himself, and then jumped down directly behind his opponent, blocking the path to the portal. “I don’t think so, pet.” He said as his long leather-covered arms reached out to wrap around Serenity, and keep her from escaping. He didn’t intend to hurt her much, just enough to let her know that if he wanted to he could break her little body like a glass doll in a vise.

OOC: Btw, this is before the whole thing with Serenity and Raven fixing Kerry in her mind. So, she's still crazy...
If anyone who knew her was watching, they'd be able to tell that Serenity was losing her cool and fast. She was awkward in her broken shoes, breathing much too fast, shaking enough that even if she could hit his shadow, she wouldn't be able to and her eyes were wide. Serenity may always show the world a brave face but she wasn't stupid. She knew when she was out of her league and this guy was way out. She wasn't good with dealing with super speed, hell, she wasn't good with dealing with supers in general. It didn't help that she felt a headache coming on.
Serenity watched the lizard man dart around before ending up on the ceiling, watching her from above. Yeah, she was definitely adding lizards to her list of 'to avoid' animals. She kept shooting at the man but it was like shooting a ghost. They didn't seem to so much as touch him or his shadow. She glanced behind her, to where her portal was almost formed then looked back up. With a gasp, she realized the lizard man was gone.
He reappeared behind her, blocking her route to the portal. She tried to scurry back but the broken heels prevented her from moving fast. Even if she'd been at normal speed, she probably wouldn't have been able to get of the path of the man's arms that wrapped around her, squeezing like a snake.
"Let me go!" she screamed, thoroughly freaked out. If there was one thing Serenity hated, it was being touched, especially against her will. She was at least happy that he had long sleeves on and that she was fully covered save for her face. She didn't need the lizard man's memories right now. "Let me go!"
"Make him."
Serenity gasped at the Voice that sounded in her mind. Of all times for the Voice to take over--
Suddenly, her body went limp, eyes closed, head down. Her breathing nearly stopped for a few moments. Then, she looked up, mouth stretched much too widely, blue eyes now completely black. A strange growl seemed to rise through her.
"I said," she whispered in a dark, scratchy voice, completely unlike her own, "to let. Me. GO!" The shadows in the room seemed to suddenly converge towards her and a burst of energy surged around her, sending her flying out of the vice-like grip. She landed on the floor and rolled to her feet in a fluid motion. Her limbs were shaking from the energy spent on the attack but the far-too-large grin was still in place, head cocked slightly to the side. Kerry had come out to play.

The burst came so suddenly that Basilisk was caught by surprise, and blasted back several feet. The mutant landed on his back with an "oof", reverting back to his human form. He grunted a little as he sat up, one hand on his head. "Alright. Not the brightest thing I've ever done." He said lowly. "Bugger." Alistair whispered in pain, his eyes closed.
The animorph opened his gray-blue eyes and turned then on Serenity. One eyebrow shot up upon seeing her utterly black eyes. "Oh... Showing our true colors are we, birdy?" His tone was grim as he rose to his feet, stripping the coat from his body. He tossed the coat aside, and then speedy removed his big boots. "Fine by me..." He muttered, and then in a flash he was back to his part-human part-lizard form. "I was bloody tired of going easy on you."
As the reptilian man stared his enemy down his claws extended, and then his feet morphed into lizard feet with claws equally as long and frightening as the ones on his scaly hands. The mutant grew about six inches, and his muscle mass must have increased by about 25%. His face grew long, looking exactly like that of a basilisk lizard, complete with the odd fin-like spine atop his head. "You just remember one thing..." He said as his black shirt tore from the increase in size, and also the large fin-like spine that came from his back. Finally, a long tail shot out from where his tailbone was and lashed about for a moment. "You brought this on yourself." He said in a beastly voice that was unrecognizable as his own, and then screeched horribly at his foe, his terrible fangs revealed and dripping with saliva.
The lizard man flew at Kerry with such speed he left a trail of green behind him. His fists flew at her like bullets from a machine gun; wild and ruthless. After only a few seconds he brought his right set of claws upward, attempting to slash her torso.
