Alistair was genuinely surprised when his companion showed interest in his work. He honestly didn't figure she would think much of a profession like his. "Well..." Price stopped to think back on who he had guarded in the past. Were there any big names she would recognize? He had been employed by a few famous people, but he usually forgot who they were if they didn't catch his interest. There was one job, a long time ago, that he would never forget. It wasn't so much the job as it was the person that he would always remember.
Alistair grinned as he thought back. "I guarded Billy Idol back in ninety-six when he performed with The Who." He still remembered that day as if it had just happened. It was after Billy's motorcycle accident, which almost cost him a leg, so his management was being extra careful. Sure, it had been years since the accident, but they still worried about him. Thus, people like Alistair got called in whenever Mr. Idol planned on making a big public appearance. Alistair was thrilled at the thought of getting a chance to see Billy Idol in person, not to mention be his body guard. He was only 25-years-old then, but he was well respected in the private protection business.
Price pulled himself away from his memories and focused on Maia, who was in a daze of her own. ~Well done, Alistair. You utter less than fifteen words and you've got the girl so bored she's staring off into space.~ He thought to himself. He glanced over at the teen he had spotted earlier, and now saw that an older boy was with her. Something about him seemed strange; not exactly dangerous, just odd. Price shrugged it off, and looked to Maia again. "You probably don't have any idea who I'm talking about, do you?"

Maia looked back at Alistair and gave a half giggle, half laugh. “Who doesn’t know Billy Idol?” She flashed him a huge grin and mimicked an air guitar. “Here she comes now sayin' Mony Mony. Shoot 'em down turn around come on Mony. Hey she give me love and I feel all right now. Come on you gotta toss and turn and feel all right, yeah I feel all right. I said yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.” She did a dramatic guitar solo and busted into laughter, her cheeks turning red from embarrassment.
“Sorry, I couldn’t resist.” She coughed, her cheeks still burning as she looked at him again. “Yea, I know who he is. I can’t say I’m a huge fan, but I like some of his music.” She cleared her throat again and picked at her food, taking in a few long breaths to cool off her awkwardness.
"So..." She shifted a little and looked up at him from her cobbler. "Was he a nice guy or one of those look at me I'm famous kinda guys?"

(OOC: Sorry I'm taking so long. I'm still in recovery. ) Alistair was immediately surprised by Maia's reply. He really didn't think she was old enough to know about the great platinum blonde rebel. But, it seemed she not only knew the name but actually knew some lyrics. Granted, it wasn't an original Billy Idol song, but it was still kind of cool how she knew his cover of "Mony Mony". Price just grinned and watched the young woman; had he not been in the physical shape he was he probably would have jumped up and joined her. Alistair's smile grew when Maia started laughing at herself. He gave her some light applause, reassuring her that she wasn't just some crazy chick making a scene. "Not my favorite cover he's done, but it's a fine song.""Was he a nice guy or one of those look at me I'm famous kinda guys?""Well, sadly I didn't really get to spend a whole lot of time with the guy. But, what time I did hang around him he seemed like a pretty cool bloke. Y'know, friendly and whatnot." He replied with a sideways grin. Alistair finally took to drinking his tea--it was now at a temperature he liked. After taking a drink and setting the cup back down he stared Maia in the eyes. "So, Maia, besides eatin' pie and singing in public what do you do for fun?"

Maia gave another half nervous chuckle when he mentioned her singing in public. She gave a small shrug and looked up from to her plate meet his gaze. “Other than working and keeping up with daily life I don’t really do much. I mean, I’ll help Julian with the kids and stuff, but that’s about it. I’m not a really social person.” She grinned slightly.
“So… what do you do for fun, Mr. Alistair?” She corked a smile his way. “Other than saving girls from gun fire, defending celebrities from crazy crowds, and watching me eat pie late at night.” She took another bite of the cobbler, thankfully it was cooling down just enough to her to scarf the bite down.
The young couple at the table rose to their feet and headed toward the door. Maia gave the boy a quick glance, but kept her mind to herself for the most part. There was something familiar about the girl, but in this town she could have been a runaway that was plastered on posters or simply someone Maia had seen a million times before and never thought twice about.

Honestly, Alistair wasn't all that surprised that Maia kept too busy to go out and have fun. He was a little happy to hear it, actually. Now, don't get it wrong, he wasn't glad that she had no social life because he was sadistic or anything, he just saw this as an opportunity to give Ms. Veronna a social life. Granted, his social life was a bit strange, but maybe she was into that. Hey, she liked Billy Idol, she was a lawyer, and she was raised by a nun--how could she not be into things out of the norm?
The young woman returned the question, and Alistair just grinned. ~Fortuitous.~ He thought to himself. "Well, I do like my work...most of the time. But, I like to read for fun; y'know, if I feel like bein' alone." He started casually. "Otherwise I go out to the pub, maybe throw back a few with some poker pals in the back of this joint on the other end of town. Some times I check out the new talent in the octagon, or just walk around the city and see who I meet. But after nightfall things get a bit more exciting."
As Alistair examined the conversation he realized just how far apart their worlds were, and yet there was something strangely similar between them. He wanted to explore this relationship, see where it would go, and learn more about this girl. Even if they never got "involved" he would be fine with that. She was one interesting bird.

Maia corked a brow at his last statement. Now this was something she could get interested in. Though she didn’t seem like the type she also had a night life that many would find questionable. With the new laws and actions being taken against vigilantes it was amazing some people still braved to take justice into their own hands. She cleared her throat slightly and put down her fork, eyeing him carefully.
“And what exactly do you do at night that is so fun?” She gave him a saucy smile. She knew her own night time fun might not mean the same thing in his terms, but it was worth a shot.

Maia's inquiry coupled with her demeanor, and not to mention that smile, made Alistair grin just a little impishly. ~Is this bird flirting with me?~ He asked himself. It certainly seemed that way, so Price just went with it. "All kinds of things." He replied as he leaned toward her slightly, his voice just a bit hushed. "Maybe you'd like to see."At that moment Alistair remembered his healing shoulder, and how it would hinder him tonight should he try to show Ms. Veronna a good time. ~Bugger.~ He thought to himself, but didn't let his expression change. "Tomorrow night, perhaps?" He asked before finishing his tea. "Leave your world of paperwork and convents behind for a night. Try on my world...see how good it feels."(OOC: What? No! I didn't just steal Spike's line. >.> ... New thread?)

(Sure! you start or me?)
Maia gave it very little thought. She looked at her watch and nodded. "I have to get going, so tomorrow night will be great." She grabbed a napkin and pulled a pen from her pocket. She scribbled her number down and handed it out to him. "Just give me a call tomorrow and we can decided on a place for you to show off than."
She flashed him another wild grin and rose to her feet. She really did need to get going. Julian had warned her on staying out to late and the kids were not going to wait on her in the morning. "Goodnight, Alistair. I'll see you around." She said, her voice slightly teasing.
She turned as she reached the door and grinned. "And, yes, I was flirting with you." She gave a nervous laugh and darted away before he could reply. She normally was very shy when it came to things like this, but she was feeling a little brave after this crazy night.
